MCG selected based on ability to reduce healthcare costs and improve outcomes

Mountain View, California – November 13, 2017: The Samsung Digital Health Summit (http://www.marketing.samsunggearup.com/) brought together health innovators and thought leaders to explore how to reduce the cost of healthcare by 1/2 via a new consumer-driven model of healthcare delivery. The event explored the value of wearables, AI, price/outcome transparency, and new business models on reducing cost while improving outcomes. Speakers included executives from UnitedHealth, University of California, Apollo Hospitals, Medtronics and the hottest startups in reversing diabetes, in-home detox, physician and insurance marketplace. Over two dozen exhibitors showcased how their products and Samsung are one step closer toward our Digital Health vision. The Summit concluded with a lightning round Startup Pitch competition where the hottest startups provided 2-minute pitches of their technologies and healthcare solutions. This was an invitation-only event sponsored by Samsung, hosted at Samsung’s Research Main Campus in Mountain View, California.

The Startup Pitch Challenge was won by the MultiFunction Cardiogram (MCG), presented by Raffi Shen of Premier Heart. The candidates were evaluated on their ability to address the goals of the Samsung Health Summit: reducing healthcare costs, and improving treatment outcomes.

About the MultiFunction Cardiogram (MCG):

Approximately 1 in 4 deaths in the United States are attributable to heart disease, and for many patients suffering a major adverse coronary event (MACE) such as a heart attack, there are no symptoms of heart disease until it reaches life-threatening levels. The MCG is a desperately-needed noninvasive technology which brings a new level of accuracy and speed for identifying even the earliest stages of conditions affecting the heart or cardiovascular system. The MCG introduces machine-learning, cloud-based, quantitative engineering models to provide completely objective, consistent results in under 15 minutes and for less than $300 per test. The MCG is also the first in a new class of hardware cardiovascular instruments that leverages big data, cloud computing, and automated classification techniques aiding diagnosticians in the highly accurate detection of heart disease. The MCG represents a new generation of technologies that addresses the shortcomings of existing cardiovascular diagnostic tools.

The MCG addresses a huge challenge facing US healthcare – patients presenting to emergency rooms with chest pain, by offering an expedient and inexpensive bedside cardiovascular diagnostic that is exceptionally accurate. Coupled with lifestyle, nutrition, fitness, and stress management programs, the MCG can provide unprecedented support for identification, monitoring, control, and reversal of heart disease before it becomes life threatening for millions of Americans.
